About My Practice

Teens who are 13 to 17 years old, parents and caregivers of all ages, adults 18 and older, and parent/caregiver-child dynamics.

I have worked with many different family make-ups: biological, adopted, foster, married, divorced, grandparents, and so many more. My focus is on the relationship between a parent or caregiver and their child.

In addition to private practice, I have worked in outpatient, inpatient hospitalization, and residential care.

I have a Bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in sociology from Central College in Iowa. I took a year off to work in a residential setting on a living unit. I then pursued my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Yes, in Iowa and Illinois.

Yes. Practice leads to relief.

I will never tell you that you will be fixed. You will gain tools to be more successful in life.

Life throws curve balls, and those bring you back to therapy on the same topic or a different one. Therapy does not have a permanent end.

Absolutely. I will not guarantee that I will answer you, though. We will talk about why you are asking, how that information will help you, and then I will either answer you or explain why I am not going to.

Just For Fun

I would hope so since it is yours!

Absolutely not. Do what is comfortable for you.

If you are a crier, for sure. If you do not want people to know you have been crying, definitely. Otherwise, it is your choice.

Whatever kind you have at home.

No, it actually makes me sick. When I used to see clients in person, I had to ask them not to have fresh coffee in my office.

I bake many things, so I may discover a new favorite in the future, but right now? Bread and brownies. Brownies are by far my most requested item, so they hold a special place.

Winter is perfect for me. Specifically, Christmas time.

Dogs.

A dragon, hands down. You can breathe fire, fly, and hoard treasure. All cool things.
